It's not easy, but sticking with it

So I started The Shred Revolutionary diet on Sunday.  So far not too bad.

What I love is that there is a daily schedule.  I know what to eat and when.  I find very few instances through out the day when I am hungry.  When those moments come up I chew a piece of gum and drink some water.

I have made it all the way to Day 4.  So far I have lost 1.4 lbs.  I try not to be a slave to the scale, but habits are hard to break. I will likely continue to weigh everyday, but I will try not to let it get to me if its not the number I want to see.  I took measurements on Sunday, what an eye opener.  At the end of the 6 weeks I will let you know how many inches I loose.

So what do you want to know about this diet?  Given I'm on day 4, I'm not sure what I can tell you, but feel free to ask.

I will tell you that this diet requires food prep...lots of food prep.  I was not a prepper before, but I have to now.  Everyday I run through the list of foods and snacks.  I make my little pile and head off for the day.  I keep a note on my desk that tells me what time to eat.  This has been working.  I think going forward I will have to switch 2 of meals due to availability at the time I'm supposed to eat.  Other than that, this is not that hard.

The only hard part has been the big giant bag of Swedish Fish my boss has brought into the office.  I love Swedish fish.  I have had a couple, but will be doing everything I can to resist from here on out.

Below are pictures from Day 1. Consider these my before pics.  At the end I'll give you a side by side comparison.

That's it for now.  If you have any questions let me know.  Do you want to know about the exercise I'm doing? Do you want to know what I'm eating?  I'll share it all.

Keep Smiling :)

Time to Shred!!!!

Soooooooooooo it's been forever since I posted.  Why?  Because I gave up!  Yep I said it. I GAVE UP!

I was on track.  I was hitting the gym at 4-6 days a week.  I was counting calories.  I was losing something.  It wasn't pounds, but my clothes were fitting better.  I had started lifting.  I had started running.  I was getting there.
I was even taking selfies at the gym...look at me, I look bad ass!

So what happened?  I'll tell you exactly what happened.  My mom came to visit for 3 weeks.  No she didn't stop me from eating healthy or from going to the gym.  I let life while she was here get in the way.  I see her once a year, and I made the decision to spend every moment I could with her.

The moment I fell off the wagon.  That's a rum and coke at the Mexican restaurant.  It went all down hill from here, but it was good!

All the time she was here I kept telling my self that when she left I would get back on track.  WRONG!!!!  Think again!!!!  Once you've fallen off the wagon it is hard to get back on.  Now I was up against the holidays.  Thanksgiving was among us.  Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  No surprise, it revolves around awesome food.  Not only do we do a kick ass Thanksgiving at my house, but we also do one at work.  Seriously, I bring in a roaster and cook at Turkey at my desk.  Hello...greatest smell EVER!!!!

So Thanksgiving came and went.  Then it was on to holiday baking.  I make over 2000 cookies every year.

That's a shit load of cookies.  I don't care what you say.  While we do our best to give them to family, friends, neighbors, and any body that says they want a cookie we always have left overs.  So of course every night I grab a cookie or 2 or 3.

Then I got bronchitis.  I was sick the entire month of December.  There was no going to the gym.  Though I did loose a couple of pounds because I just didn't wan to eat.

Ok, so now we're in a new year.  Have I gotten back on track? No, not yet.  That's all about to change.

On Sunday I am starting the Shred Revolutionary Diet. 6 weeks, planned meals and exercise. My boss has been doing it and so far he has lost 20lbs in 4 weeks.

Here's the deal.  I don't know if this will work, but I am committed to sticking to the entire 6 weeks.  Why? Because I'm at the heaviest I've ever been (190ish). Because I look at pictures of my self and want to cry. Because I'm tired of my thighs rubbing together.  Because I have really cute skinny clothes and I want to wear them again.

I will do my very best to blog my journey over the next 6 weeks.  Hopefully this will help keep me on track!

Until next time...put the cookie down!

Excuses or Results...Resuts baby!!!!

Friday was the last day of my Advocare cleanse and 24 fit camp. So that means its time to see the results.

For 24 fit camp we did our fit test again.  All I can say is YAHOO!!!!  I never thought when I showed up yesterday I would get the results that I did.

I shaved 2 minutes off my mile!!!  2 minutes...that's incredible.  Let me tell you I don't run if I can help it.  Run/walking is always my last resort for exercise, so to shave 2 minutes felt impossible. I did it, I did it, I did it!!!!  Ok, on to more resluts....push up (my next nemisis), increased by 10.  I went from 20-30 in 1 minutes.  I also incrased my sit ups from 25-30.  Woo-hoo!

This is what happens when you dedicate a little time and effort.  Was it hard, YES!  I work 1 hour 20 minutes away. I am part of a major project going on also that causes me to work late sometimes.  I was running out off work in my work out clothes to get there.  Oh yeah, during all of this my husband had surgery, my son started high school, and football.  That's a lot of stress.  I made this time for ME.  I am determined to get in shape and back on track.

I also just finished the Advocare 10 day cleanse.  This is the 2nd time I've done it.  I didn't have as good results as I did the last time, but I do feel more on track with my eating.   Overall I am down 2lbs, current weight is 186lbs.  I also went down 2".  That's great, now to keep it up.  My first cleanse I lost 5lbs and 2".  After that I went hog wild and ate what ever I wanted.  Well, we all know weight loss doesn't work that way.

From here on out I will be doing something close to the Slow-Carb diet.  We'll see where that gets me.  More details to come soon, but for now I have to sign off.  I have an 8:45am Zumba class to attend!!!

5 down 5 to go

So last week I mentioned that I started the 10 day Advocare cleanse.  Well today marks Day 6.  I still have not stepped on the scale, but I hope I'm losing something.  I have done 3 work outs, but think only 2 of them count.  Friday I played volleyball, but that only counts as a work out if you are actually moving around.  I play with about 20 other women and we're not great at it.  We are getting better though.

The first couple of days of the cleanse I was hungry.  Screw that...I was HANGRY!!!!  Instead of giving up or giving in, I drank a little extra water (I'm moving my desk to the bathroom) and chewed a little gum. Then came the weekend.  This is usually my "Oh dear god I love wine" moment.  Not this weekend.  This girl packed snacks and planned ahead (YAY ME!)  I also filled any free time I had doing something.  This helps to not eat out of boredom.  I cleaned, did some laundry, played with my puppy, and baked.  Yep I said baked.

I made those delicious looking apple cinnamon rolls.  I got the recipe for Sallys Baking Addiction. They looked and smelled awesome.  I did not eat one single bite.  These are not, clean, skinny, low fat, low carb, or low anything.  They are fatty, gooey, sticky buns of goodness (I assume, again I didn't eat them).  I did however take them to work and I have none left.  They must have been good.

I also watch Argo.  What a fantastic movie.  Have you seen it yet? No, go watch it.  It's based on a true story, which is always awesome.   I had actually forgotten all about it. Then a few weeks ago I stumbled on to Nerky.  She has a great blog, that you should totally go read, right after you are done reading this.  Anyway I started reading her blog from the beginning and she reviewed both Argo and Pitch Perfect.  She gave both rave reviews.  I had already seen Pitch Perfect and it is aca-awesome! But she reminded me I wanted to see Argo.  What a great way to spend some time, trying not to think about food.   Really, it was great.  Very suspenseful and a little tense at times.  2 thumbs up for sure!

So that's where I am today folks.  Hope all is well out in the world!

I'm still alive...just busy

Busy, lazy...same thing right??? We have had crazy shit going on since my last post.

First off school just started.  Those first couple of weeks are crazy!!!!  Not to mention our youngest man started high school this year.  HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!! WTF??? Time just flew on by, I swear.  Anyway, a few days in he decides to play football. That means physicals, forms to fill out, a check to be written, and cleats to buy.  Now do you think he came up with this idea at a convenient time?  NO!

That brings us to the next thing, my hubs had surgery last week.  That's right, David wants to play football 2 days before hubs has surgery.  My hubby has congestive heart failure and needed a pace maker/defibrillator.  He got that done on Thursday last week.  The surgery went great and he was home same day.  I on the other hand had not slept the night before or all day at the hospital, so I was a basket case for the next few days.  Lack of sleep makes me one cranky BITCH!

The weekend brought a world wind of shopping, sleeping, cleaning, and baking.  I love to bake and needed to say thank you to some awesome friends for all the help they give us (they are really David's 2nd set of parents).  Anyway I made this.

I did not take this picture.  Click here for pic and recipe.

I found it on Pinterest...the site is AMAZABALLS!!!  Are you on there, follow me!  I pin awesome shit!  I had a few other things that I wanted to bake, but always short 1 ingredient.  Stick around, cause I will be baking this weekend...woo-hoo!!!!

So on to the weight-loss portion of our story...there has been no weight loss, whomp- whomp ;(  That's my own damn fault...I ate like shit all weekend.  I admit it.

Well today is a different story.  I started my Advocare 10 day cleanse today.  I weighed in this morning at 188lbs and will not be weighing again until next Saturday.  I also took measurements and will take some before pics when I get home.  Between now and then, I also have 8 work outs scheduled.  Lets hope I can make them all happen.  Please stand by and I will keep you posted.

Until the next time, I leave you with this great quote from Ted Mosby (he's one of my favorites)!

Weekend Recap

Holy shit...where did that weekend go???  Seriously, like 5 minutes ago it was Friday afternoon and now here it is Tuesday night.

So in my last post I mentioned that I joined a fit camp thing.  Well we played volleyball on Friday night.  I have not even thought of a volleyball since high school.  As I stood out there in the sand, I had horrible flashbacks to gym class, hoping and praying that the ball would come no where near me.  Guess what???  Not only did the ball come in my direction, but I HIT IT!!! Over the net..OMG!  Honestly it was so much fun I can't wait to play again.

I wish I could say that I was good for the rest of the weekend, but that is totally not the case.  Saturday we ordered a new stove WITH double oven.  I know...your jealous! Well unless you already have one and your thinking it was the best choice I could have ever made.

This gets delivered on the 19th..woo-hoo!

Sunday was spent with old friends.  Food, drinks, and laughter were flowing for sure.  It's always great to see people you haven't seen for a while (in this case about 4 years).  It's even better when you can pick up right where we left off.

Before I knew it, I was facing Monday morning.  Then I remembered it was a holiday and didn't have to go to work. YAY!!!!!  After Sunday night, I needed a day of rest.  Movie day with my family is always my favorite.  We watched We Bought A Zoo, Casino, a few Criminal Minds episodes, My Sisters Keeper, and Snow White and the Huntsman.  Yes, a wide variety.  That's how we roll!

Here we are at Tuesday.  Another day of work, another day of eating badly (I did work my ass of in Zumba, 650 calories), another night of wishing I would win the lottery.  Good night all, lets do it again tomorrow.  Maybe with more enthusiasm...hehehe!

24 Fit Rocks!!!

In an effort to jump start my weight loss, I joined a 4 week program in town call 24 Fit Camp.  At first I was completely unsure, but thought what the hell do I have to lose, right?

So on Sunday I went and got weighed in. What an eye opener! I weigh 187lbs...there I said (wrote it) out load.  EEK!!!!  A few years ago I worked my ass off...literally.  Using the South Beach diet I lost 26lbs to get to weight of 150lbs.  South Beach is supposed to be limited carbs...well guess what? I cannot maintain that.  I love pasta, and bread, and potatoes, and rice, and WINE!  So slowly, but surely the weight has been coming on, bringing me here.

Monday was our first session.  We had to run a mile for time, 1 minute sit ups, 1 minute push ups.  I was terrified, but I did it.  That feeling was awesome!!!

It's a little blury, but that's me (in the grey) running my mile.

I ran my mile in 13.3 minutes, not bad for a non-runner.  I did walk a little, but ran most.  I did 25 sit ups, and 20 push ups.  At the end of the 4 weeks we will do it again.  I hope to be able to report that I improved in all areas.

This is an awesome group of women (yes, all women).  They rock my socks off!  I'm so glad that I joined this group.  I'll keep you posted on our progress.

For now...have an awesome weekend!!!!!!!!
